thanks, i fixed the ground for gauge but isnt there a power one that i need to fix to get it to work???
i cleaned the ground and it still sits about half.

 

That would be the yellow/red wire that goes from the instrument panel to the sending unit itself, through that connector in the second photo at the wheel well

i figured it out, it was the wires on the tank there rotted off. got a new tank fron a yard with skid plate fo 50
